What is seen is that the web is broken down into 3 different areas all consisting of different information, firstly web 1.0 what thus mostly consisted of was just pure information, it was basically just a faster way for people to catch up on information because it was being published online at a much faster and easier rate than doing so online the second section was the web 2.0 this is where the whole web becomes more interesting what happens in the web 2.0 is that it has become more user interactive with places like YouTube and other sites coming into play what this means for the general user is that we are able to put more of what we want to see onto the internet which is a good thing so that we are not all fed the same information and forced to have to the same answer and it has become more social with players like Facebook coming into action. The final part is the web 3.0 is where machines have been programmed to process the web like we can, this can be seen through things like artificial intelligence or AI for short, what we are developing as people is a machine thinking society which can be a dangerous thing if taken into the wrong hands

Topic 10

Question 1

A Trust is not associative? On a very basic level when saying Trust is not associative it basically means that trust only goes one way in relation to buyers and sellers the sellers have full trust in the consumers to pay for their goods and the buyers may not have the same level of trust because they are afraid that may encounter inferior product (Rappa, 2010)

Trust is not transitive. What is mean by this is that trust can’t be passed on directly from person to person what is mean in relation to buyers and sellers is that a seller’s trust in a customer can’t be passed from customer to customer. (Rappa, 2010)

Trust is always between two parties. Trust on a very basic level requires two parties for example a customer and a store but trust can be extended past the basic two parties if more people begin to reply on each other to do a job (Rappa, 2010)

Trust will involve direct trust or recommender trust

Trust does involve both direct trust which can between a buyer and seller, over time of both parties dealing with each other it builds a strong trust. and recommender trust is when a buyer goes to a friend and suggests the seller that they have dealt with (Rappa, 2010)

Question 2

http://www.opencolleges.edu.au

the elements that are on this site that improve my trust in it are that it states on how many people have gone though the college, it also states that it has been in operation for over 100 years, its an overall a  appealing site very easy to use, it provides a lot of information about itself as a whole which shows that it can be trust worthy. From going over this site there is nothing that can could be considered  not trust worthy.

http://www.creditunionsa.com.au/

the elements that are displayed on this site that make me trust them is that the moment that you go onto the site you are told the Interest rates that you may be eligible for, as a customer would scroll through this site they will discover all the different deals that they have going on that might be great for them that would assist them in this financial struggle. What would decrease my level of trust in this site it doesn’t display what exactly makes you right for the rates that are displayed when you first open the webpage, it also does not state what is needed to take out a load with them

http://www.thinkgeek.com

this site personally appeals to myself, from looking around on the site and it seems to be trustworthy because firstly its very interactive has some customer feedback areas so that customers may address their concerns, it has a wide range of stock which is good. Nothing on this site appears to be untrustworthy and lower my trust in it

https://stripe.com

this site seems to be very trust worthy it has a lot of information about all its overall services and talks about how it codes its services it is a very upfront site and tells you a lot about itself from the get go, on the down side given that it shows on how it codes some of its features on it site it may be troubling to some users that they display this information to the public

question 2b

http://www.thedogisland.com/

I have found a site that is considered to be a untrustworthy website because it seems to good to be true that there an entire island full of dogs that just roam free and do what dogs do day in and day out, the whole idea is very nice that there might be a island full of dogs but it doesn’t seem true

Question 1

The agent/broker might have to consider negotiating the price, or they may have to drop the deal and go looking for a new insurance deal

Question 2

Another example of channel conflict is with the tech giant apple, because apple have made a choice to open their own retail stores and offer cheaper prices/deals to customers in comparison to the on-sellers they are consequently putting some of the on-sellers out of business (Moltzen, 2007) there hasn’t been much if any at all channel resolutions for this problem.

Topic 8

1.      The term “pure play” is “a company that focuses exclusively on a particular product or service in order to obtain a large market share” (Dictionaries, 2017) The business model of eBay is that of e-commerce, unfortunally this is a large model but the way to which eBay has set itself up, it is in a basic form is an open online market place (eBay, 1996-2017) eBay is so successful because it is very easy and basic to use and it has marketed itself very well because a lot of people that have had a good experience use words of mouth

2.      Places like amazon have entered a market with a huge online player and is very small in comparison unfortunally with far less success in comparison but they are still offering auctions just like eBay currently is. It is tough to say to why eBay has been able to keep this dominant position, one way might be that it is very easy to buy and sell things and it does have a good overall review of the sellers on the site

3.      What eBay has done to minimise fraud on its site is have a seller review system which tells buyers if they are buying from reputable buyers, restrict payment options by now only having PayPal and credit card purchases and a money back policy on select items. The types of fraud would be financial fraud and not giving the right product once the purchase has gone through, the people that are most susceptible to fraud purchases are older people and people that think that deal is to good to be true

4.      eBays efforts to set up a community among its users has had a lot of benefits because it makes the users feel better because it gives more control to the people using the site, what eBay gains from setting up themselves like this is that if it gives more control to its users more people will like that idea and would like to sell on it

5.      a brand name might be setting up on eBay for a few reasons, one being that it has excess stock its trying to get rid of, this stock could be at the end of its line so eBay is used to get rid of the rest. Another reason is so that the brand name might be trying to enter this new market place of online auctions

Question 1

The idea of a machine that can think is an awesome idea, the potential of this sort of technology is endless, this type of tech when given information and can process it like any of us but too much can be a harmful thing in the way of AI robots because it may consider itself superior to us. But a different view point is that can may see a different angle of problems that our society currently faces a good example is AI in the medical industry it may solve problems to cures much faster than the human brain

Question 2

The turning test is a test created by Alan turning during the 1950s what it was exactly was a huge machine that had an ability to exhibit that was equivalent to that of a human. At the time of its creation the machine was a huge advancement in computer science and the first of its kind. Its purpose was to deviser Germanys secret code during the second world war and it had fulfilled its purpose and shortened the second world war by a few years and saved thousands of lives.

An argument about the turning test is the creation of such a machine will take away from human knowledge and eventually render humans nothing in the way of thinking for ourselves. Such a machine will eventually take over the use of human brains in the since it can think for itself soon enough there will be a full functioning machine that will be able to completely control itself

Question 3

Virtual agents do have the potential to deliver amazing customer service over the web, once developers of these agents create a way for these to become more adaptive to the knowledge it is given by the company and its ability to understand the human it is dealing with. I have a few bad negative experiences with virtual agents because of the fact that the information that it was giving was very dull and generic it had continually pointed me in the direction of the company’s hotline but on the other hand I have a few good expenses with virtual agents in relation to tech questions they had given me the exact information needed to get everything back in working order

Another is known as content which allows pages like newspapers ect to place adverts on their pages which pus digital product in the faces of the consumer another is support what this allows is that if a online customer requires help in any way the longer they can be kept on the site the better it is for the online store it saves the store money, lead generation captures personally identifiable information which can be used at a later date by the entity or pass it on

Digitation over the past few years has changed the ways in which business interact with each other and with the current world at large, the internet has changed the way products eg a lamp interacts with us and interact with it a product could be given a sensor in this case a lamp and provide necessary information to us about things like how long has it been on, how much it has used ect

The canvas business model allows 9 different subsections to mould into one tool that can be used by a range of different people in the business world

Technology has changed the way in which business gets their product in front of the right people at the right time this is so that the market can be easily used by the majority people that have access to the web
